During a 60 minutes lesson we generally address warming up, scales and arpeggios, techinque for the bow and the left hand,

Like each of us, I contain a universe of passions, energy, and motivation. I am a cellist with a Master’s degree in performance earned in Italy under the guidance of distinguished maestros from the Janigro and Piatti schools.
As a creative and engaging music teacher, I offer cello lessons at all levels and piano lessons for beginners. I am also an early childhood music educator, working with children from 0 to 6 years old, nurturing their first connections with music.
In my role as a member of the College of Examiners, I conduct string music examinations at all levels, supporting students in their musical growth.
Beyond music, I have a background in law and am a qualified lawyer in Italy, with an equivalent title obtained in French in Quebec.
I am also a passionate project manager, leading multiple artistic and musical projects with enthusiasm and dedication, bringing together my diverse expertise to create meaningful and inspiring experiences.
CELLO LESSONS FOR STUDENTS OF ALL LEVELS
Awarded in 2023 by the Royal Conservatory of Music as "Teacher of Distinction", Silvia Buttiglione has created an innovative music studio of dedicated to cello learning, piano for beginner, music theory and chamber music.
The private studio has been active in Italy (Milan) and then in Edmonton (AB) for 6 years, between 2013 and 2018. and since 2018 Silvia Buttiglione has been teaching in Outremont (Montreal) and online via FaceTime, Zoom or GoogleMeet.
Lessons are individual and focus on the development of beauty of the sound, accurate intonation, wide variety of bow strokes and fluency in changes of positions, and great musicality.
Music theory learning, improvisation and ear training are taught during our regular lessons in order to expand progressively the musical skills of the students and their overall understanding of music.
The studio provides several opportunities for the students to perform in formal venues.
The particular dedication to string instruments allows students to find the opportunity to create their chamber music groups with other students and have the joy to share their passion for music.
Children as young as 4 years-old are accepted for cello and piano lesson
The environment is nice and familiar, welcoming and warm. Parents are welcome to attend to lessons or to leave their children with the teacher and pick them up at the end of their lessons.
Lessons are in English, French or Italian.

What is Smart Start?
Smart Start is an Early Childhood Music Program developed by the RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music) in Toronto.
Grounded in neuroscientific research from its very inception, Smart start was developed with the twin goals of enhancing both musical skills and cognitive skills.
The smart starts curriculum is designed to emphasize an enhance the types of cognitive work that naturally occur during music practices: attention, memory, perception, and cognitive flexibility.
Each activity in the smart start curriculum address one or more of these cognitive skills in addition to its musical goals (beat, rhythm, pitch, tempo, dynamics, listening, singing, movement, engagement).
